About the Teacher

ERICA KAPLAN has a private vocal coaching practice in the city and frequently appears as music director, accompanist, and solo pianist at clubs, restaurants, and theatres in and around New York.  She served for nine years as pianist with Helen Trezlie, the last two terms as solo teacher, for the Stuyvesant Adult Center singing class.  Resident pianist at the American Renaissance Theater (ARTC) and at Interborough Repertory Theater (IRT), she played for Robert Elston's classes at ARTC from 1980 until his death in 1987.  NEIGHBOR, a one act musical for which she wrote music and lyrics, had a staged reading at IRT in 1991.  Ms. Kaplan was musical director for IRT's production of THE GIFT OF THE MAGI, and arranger for its POSTCARDS FROM THE APPLE.  Other theatrical experience includes productions of THE MIKADO at Playwrights Horizons; WorkShop Theater Company’s ON AN AUGUST EVE, Mr. Elston's one-man show, PORTRAIT OF A MAN, at Hyde Park Festival Theatre and at ARTC; and SWAN SONG, a murder mystery with music directed by Tony Tanner.  Erica serves as music director for Two Beans Productions and has worked with Victory Theatrical’s children’s theatre subsidiary Literally Alive.  She is listed in Who's Who in Entertainment and Who's Who of American Women.
